This piece came from the estate of an Adolfo lover who owned many unique pieces by the designer. Adolfo was born in Cuba and worked for Coco Chanel in Paris before moving to New York. That's why many of his suits have such a "Chanel" look to them! His first job was making hats at Bergdorf Goodman, and Halston became his replacement when he left. He supposedly never liked making hats and did so out of 'sheer necessity'. He made hats for Jacqueline Kennedy while she was in the White House and she started wearing his clothes after she became Mrs. Onassis. Other important Adolfo clients included Connie Mellon, the Duchess of Windsor - Wallis Simpson, Betsy Bloomingdale, Babe Paley and Nancy Reagan
